Our Background

Seeding Cloud Computing Since 2003

The company was formed in 2003 to provide businesses with a better way to manage their I.T. infrastructure.

Prior to founding 6YS, Sam Forbes was the CIO of a large ASX listed company. Sam recognized that the size of his organization allowed him to achieve a level of IT performance that was challenging and cost prohibitive for many small and medium sized businesses. He saw that by using the cloud to share resources businesses could gain a standard of service that outshone what was currently on offer.

The result was APPSPOINT, one of Australia’s first cloud computing services.

6YS – What’s in a name?

In 2002, Sam Forbes assembled a team 6 experienced business and IT professionals sat around a table and started to ask some hard questions about the IT business.

These became known by the team as the “six levels of questioning” or six “whys” that really get to the answers that solve problems.

This questioning gave the team the business direction to provide "Software as a Service" to the SME market.
